The water resistance rating on a watch is not a measure of the depth to which the watch is waterproof. The 30m and 50m water resistant watches have been tested to 3 & 5 atmospheres (ATM) respectively. This test is not a water pressure test. Such rated watches are wearable around household sinks and may survive an outside rain shower or the splash from washing, however, they should not be worn while swimming, showering, pool diving or scuba diving. If the watch is immersed in water it may leak and damage the watch mechanism, invalidating the guarantee. Choose a watch of 100m water resistance rating or greater if you intend to wear it during water sports. Specialist diving watches are required for Scuba diving.
